Christmas for My Furry Friends

I have been working on Christmas stuff for my four legged friends. Otis is in the shop next to where I used to have my shop and he's always happy to see me.

I tied a blue bow around the stocking after I filled it with Denta Sticks and some Marro Snacks

Some primitive catnip mice I made for some other friends.

I hope you're having a great holiday season!

The Decorating Begins ...

Tommy has gotten all the boxes out of the attic, garage and craft room that hold the Christmas decorations and the decorating has begun :-)

First I made sure we would have dinner ready after going through the boxes:

Roast with new potatoes, carrots, onions and cabbage. Yum!

Look what greeted me yesterday morning when I went in the kitchen :

The Christmas Cacti decorate themselves~I love that about them :-)

Pomanders~these usually stay out year round. I have some pomanders that I made 20 years ago...still smell great!

Ornament made from a crab shell. umm, yeah, I do love tinsel :-)

I did decorate the mantle yesterday but I am getting ready to take it down and start over :-(

Hopefully I'll be back tomorrow with more finished decorations.

Have a great day!

Cat Fabric

I went to Jo Ann Fabrics today to get some fabric for dish towels (they didn't have any :-/) so I bought some cat fabric instead :-)

Than I saw this nice checked fabric

Put 'em together and look how cute they are!
I don't think you can tell from the bad photos that the cats have silver sparkly ribbons around their necks.

I hope everyone has lots to be thankful for this Thanksgiving!

Sunset at 4:45

This evening we took the dogs for a walk at 4:45-look how dark it is already! But the sunset is beautiful :-)

Christmas Stocking

Today I made Christmas stockings and more pot holders :-) I hadn't made fabric flowers before and thought I'd give it a whirl. The stocking is made of 100% cotton muslin.

Sorry the pictures are so dark :-/
 Detail
I was trying to get a picture of the rhinestone button in the center of the bigger rose but it just wasn't cooperating.
 More pot holders
 Isn't this fabric pretty??

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

It's me again :-) I LOVE these pot holders-they're easy to make and they fit my hand...

Bombay Chest (In Progress)

I know, I know. It's been over a month since I've posted :-/ I don't have a (good) excuse, just priorities :-)

I thought I would post this little Bombay Chest that I am working on. It's still pretty rough but here goes...

Taped off for striping :-)

Another view
I still need to even up all the lines, etc...then if I decide I like the way the front looks I'll continue on to the sides ;-)

I hope everyone's having a great week!

Fall Festival 2010

Today was the first day of the Newport News Fall Festival of Folklife. We had amazing weather-considering over 8" of rain fell Thursday :-) There were loads of people through and we had a great day. Can't wait for tomorrow!

This was the view we looked at all day. Beautiful!

This guy must have done at least 5 laps! (Made my arms tired watching him)!

Looking up

I was really cold all day because we were under trees and the wind was blowing off the water. Other than being cold it was a terrific day. Tomorrow I'm going to take another layer or two of clothes :-)

I hope you're having a great weekend,

Cabinet Done!

These aren't the greatest pictures but I had to hurry so I could cover the cabinet---it's going to rain ;-)

I still have to paint the doors and maybe add a few rosebuds somewhere around the harlequin pattern. But as far as the Festival goes this cabinet is ready to be a display case. Yay!

And the painting continues

I have lost a few months somewhere.

The Fall Festival begins one week from Saturday. I need about 2 more months to get all my stuff ready :-(

Anyhoo, I have now started on the top of the cabinet :

The blank spots are where I have taken out some pansies I painted and didn't like :-) I'll be putting more roses there. The side you see above doesn't have all the roses on it yet because I ran out of daylight :-(

This is what it looked like yesterday after alot of scraping:

Oh yes. I will be back with more ;-)

Green Cabinet Update

I added red stripes to the top of the cabinet - and they need to be toned waaay down

Yes-that is my lame attempt at a flower you see on the side. I will either be sanding it off or painting over it. I got in a hurry (because I was running out of daylight and got too much white in the red and I ended up with a smeary pink-YUK!)

Flowers Repainted

Updated. I still have to touch up the flowers  &leaves  but I'm somewhat happier with these.

And of course...I have to have a "Soap Sign" :-)

I hope Santa brings me a Cricut or a Silhouette or something along those lines. I would make such good use of one :-)

I hope everyone has a great weekend!
