My Back Yard. WARNING Picture heavy!

This is the first phase of growth in the back yard.

Red Wave Petunias with Stonecrop and lavender

Strawberry Planters
Front is Purple and Red Wave petunias, Creeping Thyme (in pale yellow bucket) and silver artemesia in Yellow pot~the whirly things are to keep birds out of the strawberries.
Silver Santolina in large pot/cuttings in cobalt pot
Creeping Rosemary on second step
Creeping thyme on bottom

Pink Wave Petunias

This is my lavender garden. This time of year you can't really tell it grows lavender because the bulbs take over for a month or so. When the bulbs are done blooming I pull them out of the garden and save them for next year :-) The tall purple flower is soapwort, in front of it is orange tiger lily, to the left is oak leaf hydrangea and in front of the flamingo is a violet :-)

Black Pepper Mint in larger pot, Star Anise in blue pot and a Rosemary cutting in bottle

The pond is home to lots of tadpoles :-)

The pink thing you see here is actually a discarded flip flop. I put holes in the flip flops and put cuttings in the holes and they flourish! I call it a flip flop float :-) (The cuttings will soon spread and cover the entire flip flop)
Below is a friend of my granddaughter. A frog. He's sitting in the pot almost in the middle of the picture
Not a great picture of the herb pot I got from Barbara at Once in a Blue Moon. I LOVE this pot! The rattan table came from Perry and Clay at Two Guys Antiques
My green house. I'll be adding another green house this year made out of old windows. The cat you see peering out of the green house is also from Perry and Clay and it is guarding the sunflowers, moonflowers, morning glories and sweet peas.

Miniature Rose in the back, galvanized tub is full of spearmint, bundt pan has lettuce growing in it, ugly black planter is ginger root, rosemary next to it and another galvanized tub with stonecrop, moss rose, angelina and ice plant.

You can barely see it but that is a Eucalyptus growing in the middle of the petunia :-)
Hope you've enjoyed the mini-tour. Lots more to come in the next few months :-)
Have a beautiful day!

What the Heck?!?!

My kids and grandkids are coming for a visiting in less than a month and I decided to spruce stuff up. Beginning at the back of the house (the den) I decided to paint the white sconces that hung over the fireplace. Well, somehow I ended up with about 10 gallons of different colored paint that I've had stored forever and a paint roller in my hand and a HUGE job I managed to create for myself :-) I hope to finish up today (with THIS wall) only three more to go after that ;-)but the other 3 are not brick which will make the painting SO much easier!

Here's a picture in progress:

Now all I have to do is figure out how I'm going to tie all of these colors together AND how and what I'm going to paint the fireplace insert. Stay tuned for the finished project.

Ok, back to the painting...have a  wonderful Wednesday!

Ottoman Slipcover

Went to JoAnn's Fabrics today to buy some fabric to slipcover the reclining sofa. I'm not sure how many reclining sofas I thought I had at the time but I ended up with a LOAD of fabrics and no money in my wallet :-)

So here's my first project:

BEFORE

The denim is actually much lighter-it's a stone wash

There is actually a box spring inside :-) and the base is VERY heavy.

Ok, let me go measure the sofa and keep my fingers crossed that I can find something else to distract me before I start on it :-)

Painted Handbag

It has been steady raining here for two days and I thought "What a great opportunity to clean the house" so I began sorting through colsets and came across this old handbag that was a very ugly color brown. It's a nice bag with loads of pockets and it's leather (Wilson's leather to be exact :-)  So, I left the pile of the handbags on the floor and pulled out my Elmer's Painters (love those things!):

This is how far I've gotten in just over an hour. The blue lines will disappear (I hope).

More later. Gotta' go clean up the pile of handbags.
Have a great Tuesday!

Flower Rod Holders

Just a quickie this evening. I was putting away some of the yard sale leftovers and ran across these:

They look so ...anemic...

So I gave them some color

and some glitter :-)

Have a beautiful week !

The Garden Window

Thought I'd share some pictures of the garden window ~ I love stacking stuff and making vignettes that make rainbows everywhere :-)

You can see the pond out the window~it's getting a makeover :-)

This is the main part of the vignette
Old candle bowl filled with beach glass with a prism wheel on top and a shot glass with the handle from an old magnifying glass on top of that .

Old irredescent candle holder with a "rainbow bouncer" disc on top, pyramid prism on top of that. Small crystals and prisms on "petals"

Fairy bowl with blue cobalt bottle inside.
Vaseline Glass Candy Bowl. Barbara at Once In A Blue Moon gave this to me. I'm sure it's because she was tired of me drooling all over her shop when I saw it :-)

Garden Window at Night

Look where the ladder ended up :-)

Clematis -I LOVE this plant!
Ok, over and out!

Have a great day & share a smile with someone :-)))

You Know Me-I LOVE Color :-)

I've been working on my backyard and I thought it needed more color so...I got out the happy paint:

No, of course they're not done. Both ladders are still kind of plain. By this time next week I imagine there will be designs all over both  ladders :-) Just sayin'.
