Side Table Redone

This little side table is really unique. The honey got this table when his grandparents passed away several years ago (at least 20!). It has some beautiful workmanship but also has several problems. Biggest problem it didn't have a top and one of the feet was broken off. Also the spindle in the middle was put on lopsided ;-) I'm pretty sure this is a repurposed piece from years ago as the legs hang over the top (on the inside) and the spindle was, I think, added to the bottom. I like all of the personality the little table has.

Yep-it's upside down :-)

See where leg was broken and then attached -sort off

So I thought I would try "white washing" this table and I'm not done yet but here are the different phases:

I did a "thicket" green wash over a white base paint. I used the thicket green because I was trying to match the faux marble top I painted

Then I did a linen wash over the thicket green

I'm going to let the table sit for a while until I'm inspired again :-)

Have a cool Wednesday!

Riverwalk at Sunset

What an amazing two weeks! We had the granddaughter the first week (without any parental interference :-) and then my daughter, her husband and the two step-grandchildren joined us. This was my first time meeting the step-grandchildren and they are delightful! The two weeks were filled with water parks, beaches, sail boating, motor boating, lots of evenings in the pool (can you tell we like the water??) It was wonderful and the two weeks past way too quickly.

Bella decorated the walkway by the pond

A heron enjoying the photo op :-)

Now it's time to get back to work so I don't noticed the silence in the house screaming at me.

I hope you have a beautiful week!

Getting Ready for Company

I thought I better put a post up before I get fired from my cushy blogging job :-)

I'm obviously still working on this but it will be done tomorrow night because we're picking up Bella on Saturday and I want it to be here waiting for her.  So it looks like I'll be burning the Midnight Oil of Olay :-) The purple looking color is actually hot pink-lighting is bad at night :-)

I don't know if I'm being punished or what but this computer has been s-l-o-w!!! and it is really annoying. I thought I was going to fall asleep waiting for the pictures to load. yawn.

Updated picture below-better lighting :-) I still have to paint the aprons and add some design to the bench. But I'm getting there.

Below is a hint at what this chalkboard table was in a former life:

You know those old end tables that you see everywhere? That's what this used to be.

I hope you're having a wonderful week!
